Moët Hennessy Diageo have announced the final three bartenders for the Hong Kong and Macau World Class competition. After three rounds of challenges that included food pairing, whisky knowledge testing and a speed round, the top three will now compete in the Hong Kong Shakedown to battle it out for a place in the Global Final in Mexico City.
The top three finalists are:
Lok Cheung, Angel’s Share
Alexander Ko, The Woods
Samuel Kwok, Quinary
The three will now participate in the HK Shakedown where they will create their own pop-up bars on Tong Chong at Taikoo Place on June 15. Each bartender is given a budget and a design team to make bring their dream bar to life. They will be judged on the design, concept, service, and drinks served in the pop-ups.
The panel of judges and the public will have a hand in deciding which bartender will head to the Global Final. The judging panel features Donald Colville, Global Single Malt Ambassador; celebrity local chef Jowett Yu of Ho Lee Fook, Sam Jeveons owner of Old Street Consulting and one of the most influential UK bartenders of the last 20 years and last year’s Hong Kong champion, James Barker of 208 Duecento Otto.
