A huge congratulations to Satoshi Sugiura (from The Odd Couple Bar in Shanghai) and Rie Hidaka (from THE BAR at The Ritz-Carlton in Tokyo) for being crowned the winners of the inaugural Four Pillars Australian (Gin) Open Asia.
The cocktail competition was held across six of Asia’s greatest cities – Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok and Tokyo.
The two winners were announced at the Grand Final held during the Singapore Cocktail Festival on the 8th of May.
Four Pillars Gin CocktailThe competition gave bartenders in the great bars across Asia with the challenge to turn Four Pillars’ craft gin expressions into creative cocktails.
Contestants were judged on their concept, engagement and appeal by Four Pillars Co-Founder, Stuart Gregor, Four Pillars Gin Ambassador and Asia Trade Relations Manager, Sam Ng.
As winners of the competition, Satoshi Sugiura and Rie Hidaka will spend an all-expenses-paid week in Australia, where they’ll distil their very own gin with head distiller Cameron Mackenzie at the Four Pillars Distillery.
They’ll then head out on a tour to see the very best that Melbourne and Sydney have to offer, from trendy underground bars right up to climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The duo will also get the opportunity to showcase their winning cocktails at the Four Pillars’ booth at the Singapore Cocktail Festival on Friday, 10 May, alongside Four Pillars’ Gin Ambassador & Trade Relations Manager in Asia, Samuel Ng.
We’d also like to give a big congrats to the winners from the other regions who made it the grand final:
