As plastic straws are such a thing of the past (or they should be), there is new glass on the market that will help to eliminate straws and the devastating effects they have on our oceans.
The revolutionary Wave Glass has been in the works for the last six months and launched April this year. The masterminds behind the project are Luke Ashton, Founder and Owner of Sydney’s Award Winning Bar ‘This Must Be The Place’ and ‘The Last Straw’ a national campaign to reduce the use of plastic straws in venues
Eva Mackinley, Founder The Last Straw, says, “Over the last few years the plastic straw has almost become a symbol of the waste-free movement. People, where possible, have widely changed their thinking and behaviour around disposable plastic straw use.
“While the market is becoming full of disposable alternatives vying for primacy, I have always believed the heart of it is about just using less, or engaging with BYO and reusable options. The Wave Glass design offers the convenience of a straw but without the disposable factor. The future of sustainability is material innovation and out of the box design solutions like this.”
The patented Dual-Chamber Technology, has an internal wall which sits down one side of the vessel – separating it into two chambers. One chamber holds the liquid, ice and garnish while the other acts as a drinking chamber allowing only the chilled liquid from the bottom of the glass to be enjoyed.
The revolutionary new glassware will be stocked at This Must Be The Place from April. Visit wave-glass.com to find out more and let’s wave goodbye to plastic straws for good.
