Suntory Whisky, the famous and award-winning Japanese whisky, has announced they are launching a new blended whisky to add to their range. Toki, which in Japanese means ‘time’, will be the fourth addition of whisky for the brand.
The launch took place in a little Japanese bar in Chinatown, Sydney, called Banchō. Where Dan Woolley, Brand Ambassador, took us through the history of the distilleries and the different types of Suntory whiskies.
Each table had four flutes of whisky, Hakushu, Chita and Yamazaki. All from the Suntory whisky label, with the last flute containing Toki. The tasting flight allowed us to taste and smell the differences of each whisky, before tasting the final whisky Toki.
Toki is a clear gold and silky whisky with a sweet and spicy finish. On the palate showed hints of green apple, vanilla, honey and ginger, the new whisky has some similarities and accents of that from others in the range. However, it finishes with a subtle sweet and spicy taste with notes of vanilla oak, white pepper and ginger.
“Toki is a different style of Japanese whisky. It’s specifically made for bartenders to create incredible classic cocktail variations as well as variations of the Japanese classic cocktail The Highball.” Dan Woolley, Brand Ambassador of Suntory Whisky.
