Adelaide’s small bar scene has been booming of late, and now, thanks to Kidd Retail Group, there’s a new wine bar to raise a glass to in the heart of the CBD.
The Noble Gentleman, the latest venture by the group, focuses on showcasing the very best of South Australian produce.
The extensive wine list shows off a range of the state’s best producers, from big brands to smaller scale winemakers. Indeed from September onwards, the venue will act as a cellar door for many of these smaller, boutique wineries, highlighting a different one each month through tastings and meet the maker sessions.
The food menu predominantly consists of sharing plates and platters, ideal for pairing with the wine offering. This includes plates such as a bucket of fresh prawns, lamb cutlets and locally sourced cheese and meat platters. Before you choose, take the time to peruse the recycled antipasto display fridge stacked full of cured meats.
For those with a thirst for something other than wine, there are three brews on tap from next-door’s Lady Burra Brewhouse (also a Kidd Retail venue), as well as a carefully curated cocktail list of beloved classics.
The dark brickwork, blackened finish concrete floors, intimate booth seating and bespoke light fittings combine to create a brooding and mysterious atmosphere. The grand sash windows overlooking Topham Mall are retractable, making the space perfect for either relaxed summer drinks or a warm winter tipple. Finishing off the unique touches is a feature wall of bric-a-brac items from the nearby op-shop on Unley Road.
With live music every weekend, The Noble Gentleman is sure to become a local favourite.
