Global cocktail celebration, Old Fashioned Week (1st – 10th of November) has joined with partners Toschi Amarena red cherries, to launch the inaugural Old Fashioned challenge.
The competition aims to award the best Old Fashioned in the world, whether classic, modern or avant-garde, and is open to all professional bartenders.
Competitors must submit a video of them making the world-class Old Fashioned they perfected during OFW by the 30th of November, and entries will be judged on originality, recipe, technical skills, video quality and social media engagement.
The winner will be announced on 15th of January 2019, and will be awarded with a tailor-made suit and a fully catered three-day trip to Paris Rum Fest, 6th – 8th April 2019.
Michael Landart, OFW co-creator and owner of Parisian bar Maria Loca, will helm the judging panel.
Dedicated to the ‘father of all cocktails’, the Old Fashioned, OFW is a global cocktail event, held annually. With 800 bars across the globe participating in 2017, the target is to have 1,000 establishments on board for 2018. The week involves participating bars serving up Old Fashioneds, using at least two of the sponsoring spirits brands and Angostura aromatic bitters, as well as a mass of consumer events and promotions.
