Ryan Nightingale claims Chivas Masters Hong Kong

Ryan Nightingale of Aberdeen Street Social has claimed the Chivas Masters Regional title for Hong Kong.

Beating out over eight entrants, Nightingale impressed the judging panel, which included Serhan Kusaksizoglu, Director of Corporate Project – Bar and Concepts at Shangri-la Hotels and Resorts; Agung Prabowo, Beverage Manager Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong; Masahiki Endo, Bartender-In-Chief of Mizunara: The Library; Maximilian Warner, International Brand Ambassador of Chivas; and Frantz Hotton, Managing Director of Pernod Ricard Hong Kong and Macau.

The Chivas Masters cocktail competition challenged bartenders to create three new cocktails, taking inspiration from the classic cocktails of New York, where Chivas first launched in 1909, as well as using local flavours from their region, and traditions of Tokyo’s bartending scene. Japan is known for extraordinary craftsmanship and service, which fittingly ties into the Chivas Master Global Final which will be held in Tokyo for the very first time later this year.

Nightingale’s cocktail, “Top Up” revisited a New York classic, where Chivas Regal was first launched in 1909. His “Noble Bean” creation showcased local Hong Kong flavours, while “Moshi Moshi” explored the celebrated traditions of Tokyo’s bartending scene. The three signature cocktails Nightingale presented epitomized the international widespread appeal of Chivas Regal.

As Hong Kong winner, Nightingale now heads to Tokyo in July to spend an immersive week with fellow national winners at the Chivas Masters Global Final. Throughout a week of individual and team challenges, contestants will be judged not only on bartending talent but also their ability to work collaboratively with an international bartending team. The Global Chivas Master will win the opportunity to travel to an iconic bar of their choice to work alongside some of the world’s most influential bartenders.

People will have the opportunity to taste Nightingale’s winning Noble Bean cocktail at the second Hong Kong whisky festival on Saturday, March 4. Nightingale will be behind the stick at the Chivas pop-up bar.
