Little Red Door, has released a new cocktail menu that explores the senses. The award-winning Paris bar, has created a unique menu with a collection of eleven drinks represented by works of art from Parisian and international painters, sculptors and creative.
Head bartender Remy Savage’s curiosity got the better of him and his initial experiment was to see whether the senses can evoke similar triggers in one person’s mind to another’s. Delving into the artistic spirit of Little Red Door and the Marias area where the bar resides, he decided to explore this question through visual art.
Eleven artist with completely different styles were invited to experience cocktails intentionally composed of suggestive flavours with the simple brief to “capture any feelings, emotions, or images in your mind’s eye that are evoked by the drink, and recreate these into a work of art in your own style”.
The result is a menu that allows the consumer to select a drink by a natural visual interpretation. There is no name or complex description, so the customer can’t be turned off by a certain ingredient they aren’t familiar with.
There is a range of cocktails on the menu to suit every palate, from long refreshing serves, through to light, complex and aromatic drinks and a few spirit forward options. For those who don’t like to venture blindly a discreet tab behind each picture will unveil a drink’s ingredients. However for the authentic experience guests are invited to choose a cocktail based on the image that appeals to them most. Science would even suggest that looking at the corresponding image whilst drinking a cocktail can enhance the experience further*…
Signature cocktails on the menu include:
Cocktail no. 3: This cocktail is herbal, fresh and fruity, with powerful French components that play against each other in an unusually tropical way. The resulting drink has a sense of bittersweet dreaminess, with elements of banana and absinthe.
Cocktail no. 5: This drink is a surprising combination of unexpected ingredients, as delicate chamomile, fiery chilli and distinctive fennel come together beautifully with the unrivalled smoothness of Ketel One Vodka. A straight serve with a tantalising, velvety finish.
Cocktail no. 10: Pushing the boundaries of texture perception with this play on botanicals and rare modifiers, think of a bone-dry martini that tastes of the sea.
The Evocative Menu by Remy Savage is pushing the boundaries and challenging the customer about the way they drink. It’s simply a truly unique and beautiful way to design a cocktail menu.
