Sydney CBD’s hairdresser meets cocktail bar gives a whole new meaning to ‘salon chic’.
Located in a heritage listed building on Bridge Street, Christopher Hanna’s decadent 1950s-inspired space brings together a luxury beauty and hair parlour, a 65-seat bar and a world-class bar team. The interior is draped in velvet, brass, copper and marble, with the centrepiece being the stunning black Italian marble and copper horseshoe-shaped bar.
On the drinks menu, guests will find an array of classic cocktails, ranging from the light and refreshing Bellini to stronger, stirred-down serves such as the Old Fashioned, Rob Roy and the Negroni. For those looking for something a little unique, try a nitrogen espresso martini on tap or one of the pre-mixed bottled cocktails. There is also a well-rounded menu of spirits, a wine offering of close to 50 Australian, French and American boutique wines and a small, skilfully crafted champagne list. Finally, bottle service is available, allowing guests to purchase a bottle of fine spirits to keep behind the bar until their next visit.
Christopher Hanna’s renowned bar team, including general manager and ex-Patron brand ambassador Patrick Tully, are dedicated to uniting the bar’s stylish aesthetic with these quality drinks.
“At Christopher Hanna, we put a lot of energy into considering all of the aspects of a drink,” says Patrick.
“This certainly means creating beautifully presented drinks, but how it tastes and smells is equally important. Our guiding principle is, ‘elegance through simplicity’.”
If you’re feeling a bit peckish, the food menu offers a number of small bites and share plates, such as the chicken liver parfait, Spanish sardines on toast, Galician octopus and potatoes, charcuterie, cheese and antipasti. For those looking to go ‘all out’, there is also a range of caviar options from $145 to $250.
Come on in from Bridge Street, take a seat in one of the plush salon chairs and enjoy an expert trim with your favourite tipple in hand. If a cut and colour isn’t on your cards, you can still access this small bar through Bridge Lane.
