The Monin Cup, a competition amongst Australia’s most talented young bartenders (strictly aged between 18-27 years old) was held on Tuesday the 11th of June. Open to entrants across all states and territories, the competition required bartenders to create a signature serve using 10ml of any Monin product.
The judging criteria focused on creativity, originality and innovation, as well of course as appearance and flavour. Entrants were also judged on their paper submission for the competition.
“The MONIN Cup was created as a platform for young, up and coming bartenders to compete in an encouraging, creative and less intimidating environment. It helps provide an even playing field for those bartenders who want to break into competition bartending, without the need to go up against industry legends immediately and they get to let their creativity loose with one of the world’s most versatile products,” said Tomas Vikario, Stuart Alexander’s Beverage Innovation Manager.
Aso will now move on to the Asia Pacific final in Kuala Lumpur to compete against the best bartenders from the region. If successful here, Aso will head to Paris to take on the world’s best at the Global Monin Cup Final.
