The Angostura Cocktail Challenge is often thought of as one of the toughest comps on the industry, with each entrant required to submit written recipes for two cocktails; an Angostura rum cocktail and an Amaro di Angostura cocktail, both containing Angostura aromatic bitters.
In addition, entrants they need to film and upload a three-minute video making their rum cocktail and submit a written entry online.
The competition offers one of the biggest prizes in the game, with AUD$10,000 cash plus a lucrative 12-month contract as the Australian Angostura Brand Ambassador up for grabs, not to mention a trip to Trinidad during Carnival to compete for the global title. The overall winner of the Global Final receives a whopping US$10,000 prize and a two-year contract as Angostura Global Brand Ambassador.
The Angostura Cocktail Challenge has seen some of the most influential bartenders crowned, including previous Australian winners such as Marco Nunes, Joe Sinagra, Andy Griffiths, Mike Tomasic and Jimmy Irvine. Marco, Andy and Mike have all taken home the illustrious global title as well.
