You may remember they brought out the tiki god Jeff ‘BeachBum’ Berry last year, well this time around De Kuyper The Works program is flying Down Under none other than ‘King Cocktail’ himself.
Dale Degroff, a man who really needs no introduction, is partnering with the world’s number one selling liqueur brand to host a series of workshops upskilling bartenders.
The masterclasses will take place at the start of August in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane, and will cover the liqueurs category at large, creative mixology techniques and innovative takes on the classic cocktails.
Attendees will also learn about the history of De Kuyper and its production methods, from its beginnings as a family-owned distillery to its current success as a global brand.
For those of you that have been living under a rock and need a little more context on the great Degroff, here’s a few facts on the world’s most famous living bartender.
His work at New York’s Rainbow Room in the 1980s sparked the cocktail revival as we know it today, and forever enshrined the venue in drinks history. He is also credited with reinstating the concept of bartending as a profession and is a founding member of Beverage Alcohol Resource (BAR), a collaboration between six of the world’s leading spirits and cocktail authorities that provides training and credentialing in distilled spirits and mixology.
In acknowledgement of all this, he has received the James Beard Wine & Spirits Professional Award and Lifetime Achievement awards from Tales of the Cocktail and Nightclub & Bar Magazine. He’s also a singer, actor and successful author of two best-selling cocktail books, The Craft of the Cocktail and The Essential Cocktail.
Yeah, he’s a pretty big deal.
Be sure to get in quick to secure your place at this world-class workshop, as we predict spots will fill up quick smart.
