Tippling Club head bartender Joe Schofield has been awarded the coveted title of International Bartender of the Year at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards 2018.
The category recognises the international bartender who has made the greatest impact on drinks style and culture in the past year and was presented to Joe in recognition of the innovation he has exhibited during his two-years at Singapore’s Tippling Club.
During his time at Tippling, the bar has ranked in the top 10 of Asia’s 50 Best Bars and has been lauded for its experimental ‘Dreams & Desires’ cocktail menu. This drinks menu, which Joe created alongside Tippling Club executive chef and owner Ryan Clift, pairs each drink with a complementing gummy bear that evokes a certain dream or desire.
Joe’s win has come alongside Tippling Club’s own announcement that it will be hosting a pop-up of this famous ‘Dreams & Desires’ menu in Hong Kong this August.
Tippling Club mixologist John Lee will fly in for the one-night event at Fang Fang to showcase a selection of four drinks from the gummy bear inspired menu. His mixology session will be accompanied by the smooth curated sounds of underground movement The Lucid Loft.
Hong Kong guests will be able to try Happiness, a blend of tequila, yuzu, honey and orange flower water, matched with a lemon and honey gummy bear; Lust, a fusion of champagne, peach, cocoa and tonka bean, paired with a Coco Chanel perfume-flavoured gummy bear; Indulgence, a mixture of strawberry, bourbon and Peychaud’s bitters, accompanied by a chocolate and strawberry gummy bear; and Super Car, a unique tipple of gin, truffle, chardonnay and lemon juice, matched with a petrol, leather and metal flavoured gummy bear.
Each cocktail will be priced at HK$150, and all four can be purchased for HK$500.
