The Australian Gin Cocktail Cup finals held a The Barbershop saw six top NSW bartenders battle it out for first place. This was the launch of the cocktail comp, with Mikey Enright (The BarberShop) and Judith Kennedy (CEO, Australian Gin Awards) initiating the competition.
Taking home the title Chairman Mikey Enright announced Giacomo Franceschi of Merivale Charlie Parker’s as the deserving winner. Not only taking home the cup, Franceschi received a Fever-Tree sponsored, three day trip for two to Tasmania to visit notable distilleries which also included a day trip to MONA.
The six successful finalists were selected and judged by industry greats Jason Crawley, Andy Penny and Harriet Leigh. Enright commented: “What a great line up of judges and finalists! It was a really tough call for the judges to make – the gin cocktails have been next level. Congratulations to all involved”
The well-crafted cocktail will be served as a welcome drink for all guests at the Australian Gin Awards Trophy Presentation Banquet to be held at Manjit’s on Thursday 7 March 2019.

Deep Sea by Giacomo
60mL Manly Spirit Gin
20mL single Vineyard Thomas Hunter Valley Semillon infused with sea asparagus
6 x Dash homemade lemon tincture
3 x Dash homemade sea celery cordial
Moss infused with vodka then distilled and sprayed around the cocktail glass
GARNISH: One almond dropped into the cocktail
