For the first time in the competition’s four-year history, the Australian winner of the Woodford Reserve Cocktail Competition will have the opportunity to potentially compete at the Manhattan Experience final held in New York City.
The Australian grand prize will include an all-expenses paid trip to Kentucky for three days, where the winner will face off against up to 50 American bartenders in the Woodford Reserve U.S. Manhattan Experience semi-final.
Should they come out on top, they will then be flown to New York City to battle it out for the title of Woodford Reserve Manhattan Experience Champion.
Entries opened yesterday, and round one requires entrants to create an original Woodford Reserve Rye cocktail using a minimum 30ml of whiskey and a maximum of six ingredients per cocktail.
In the second round, contenders will have to create their ideal Old Fashioned with Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select. This bespoke drink must feature on the venue’s cocktail menu and be promoted on its social media channels.
Representatives from Brown Forman will be visiting each of the venues to taste the Woodford Reserve Old Fashioneds before selecting the state finalists. The state heats will then be followed by the national final, to be held in Melbourne this October.
Entries close midnight 22nd July and can be submitted here.
