Famed New York City bar and restaurant Employees Only has announced its forthcoming debut of a long awaited second location. To all the lucky Singaporeans out there, this one’s for you.
The New York speakeasy first opened in Manhattan’s West Village 12 years ago. After massing a number of accolades, including “Best Bar in the World” from Tales of the Cocktail in 2011, Employees Only has quickly become a favourite amongst industry insiders as well as knowing New York locals.
The Singapore venue will look to adopt the New York venue’s buzzy vibe. This will include retro décor, soft sepia lighting and Employees Only’s signature speakeasy atmosphere, reminiscent of the 1920s and 1930s era.
What we are most looking forward to though, is the cocktails. Known for their unique, fast-paced, free pouring style, Employees Only will be bringing over their New York principal (and award-winning) bartender, Steve Schneider to head its opening team in Singapore.
We can look forward to a local twist to Employees Only cocktail favourites. “Of course, we will adapt some of our offerings to appeal to local Singaporean palates, while also staying loyal to the Employees Only brand that so many around the world know and love,” says Schneider.
But then again, the food menu doesn’t sound bad either. Specialties include bacon-wrapped lamb chops, truffled grilled cheese with Parmesan fries and bone marrow poppers.
Employees Only Singapore is set to open mid-June at 112 Amoy Street in Singapore’s Chinatown.
