East Imperial is celebrating all things gin with its fourth annual Gin Jubilee, this year expanding its festivities across Asia. The premier Asian gin festival has been hosted exclusively in Singapore for the last three years. This year sees the celebration spread to the major cities of Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Phnom Penh, Bangkok and of course Singapore.

Since launching, East Imperial has worked to redefine the idea of a traditional Gin & Tonic, with the Gin Jubilee showcasing this exciting evolution.

The festival looks to unite people across a range of venues to sample creative variations of the classic Gin & Tonic in the exploration of gin culture. Some of the finest international gins will be on show, with the region’s best bars and bartenders in attendance, as well gin aficionados and novices alike. This year is projected to top 30,000 people in attendance.

Tom Hogan, renowned mixologist and winner of 2015’s Best Gin & Tonic in Singapore, said, “Gin Jubilee started as a grassroots competition based around the principles of educating, sharing and celebrating the wonderful world of gin and the centuries-old relationship with its bubbly stalwart, tonic.

“The wonderful part about it is how the consumer is an active and critical part to the competition. Unlike standard competitions that only test a bartender’s creativity, character and technique within a controlled environment, Gin Jubilee forces the bartenders to know their audience and ultimately be able to sell their cocktails in a real-life environment, so it’s not just about how beautiful the serve is, or how complex your technique is.”

Gin highlights for this year include renowned names such as Hendrick’s Gin and Bombay Sapphire, as well as crowd-favourite boutique brands such as Monkey47, Death’s Door and Sipsmith. The carefully curated selection ensures attendees will enjoy the experience of discovering gins they’ve not tried before, as well as new serving suggestions.

The list of activities for attendees include gin masterclasses, rambles and tastings, pop-ups and live stream distillery visits, topped off with the Gin Lane closing parties.
