DIAGEO has revealed the top 10 bartenders who will move on to the final round of the World Class 2016 Singapore competition. The fourth and final round will take place on the 9th May.
The top 10 finalists will battle it out in a series of innovative challenges, created to test their talent and creativity all whilst being judged by a panel of industry experts. The judging panel consists of Jason Crawley, Director of The Drink Cabinet, Will Thompson, Global Brand Ambassador for Don Julio Tequila and Louis Eon, Bar owner of Le Chamber in South Korea.
In the first time-travelling themed challenge, “Retro, Disco, Future”, bartenders will be required to infuse the spirit of three distinct eras into three one-of-a-kind cocktails – the old school glamour iconic to the 19th century leading up to the Prohibition period; the dance-floor kitsch of the 70s and 80s; and the cutting-edge trends of the future.
The second challenge, ‘Against the Clock’, is a high-pressure speed round where competitors are tested on their poise, accuracy and craftsmanship to create a minimum of five cocktails in just 10 minutes.
The chosen final four will then head to Bali in late May to compete for the title of “Southeast Asia Bartender of the Year”, advancing him or her to the Global Finals in Miami this September.
