What happens when two brewers put aside the age-old trans-Tasman rivalry? One cracker sessionable IPA!
The IPA uses a liberal amount of Galaxy and Motueka hops to showcase the unique characteristics of the hops from the brewers’ homelands. The result is a hop driven beer, with heady aromas of tropical and stone fruits and a soft, bitter citrus flavour.
“We hear about American hops so often in the brewing industry – yet both Tom and myself are fiercely proud of our home nations and the hops that are being produced there,” says Tom Champion from Little Creatures Hong Kong. “New Zealand and Aussie hops can add a really unique element to your beer, with Australian Galaxy and NZ Motueka being two highly regarded varieties by all our brewers back home.”
Inspired by the style of IPAs commonly brewed in Australia and New Zealand, the duo has crafted a beer with low 4.5% ABV.
“We wanted to have the big, bold hoppy aroma of an IPA, but also have the balance and drinkability you would expect from a Beersmith or Little Creatures beer,” says Tom Ashton from Beersmith, Hotel Jen Beijing.
The brew was launched this week at Beersmith, Hotel Jen Beijing and Little Creatures Kennedy Town.
