To celebrate the launch of the first Archie Rose Single Malt Whisky next year, the much-loved distillers are giving us a sneak peak at the six malt base spirit.
The limited edition Six Malt New Make is the first stage of life for the currently maturing Single Malt Whisky, and is unaged, unfiltered and completely raw.
Its rich and complex flavour profile comes from the unique six-malt mash bill, which predominantly consists of regionally sourced malts. NSW peated malt, developed specifically for the release, is combined with local pale malt, local amber malt, caramel malt, aromatic roasted malt and local chocolate malt to create a spirit with earthy notes of dark chocolate, coffee, roasted nuts and toffee.
Each of the 3,000 bottles of Six Malt Make is individually numbered and comes in a limited edition hexagonal box – a nod to the six distinct malts used in the mix.
The fun doesn’t end here though.
Archie Rose has taken it one step further by announcing an exclusive competition to win not only a bottle of the Six Malt New Make, but also the opportunity to craft a tailored 20-litre cask of the Archie Rose Single Malt Whisky valued at $6,500.
The lucky winner and a friend will be flown to Sydney and work alongside the Archie Rose team to craft their ideal whisky flavour profile. They will advise on every aspect of the whisky’s maturation, from oak preference to smoke level. Once happy with their creation, the winner’s name will then be inked on the cask head, christening their bespoke spirit. Finally, they’ll head over to the Archie Rose Bar for some well-earned cocktails before spending the night at one of Sydney’s best hotels.
Sounds like a crash-hot prize to you too? Head on over to the Archie Rose competition website to enter.
