Old world meets new at Wan Chai’s latest restaurant and bar, Pinot Duck.
With the spread of French wine styles into China, it was found that pinot, with its fresh acidity and fruit notes, is the perfect pairing for rich, succulent, crispy-skinned duck. This has inspired a menu designed to celebrate the age-old Chinese cuisine of duck alongisde the versatility of the pinot grape.
This venue focuses on showcasing this harmonious match by offering a range of duck dishes perfectly paired with pinot wine styles. A purpose-built oven has been installed, the only of its kind in Hong Kong, custom-designed to ensure ideal roasting conditions. Guests can choose from tasters, such as the Classic Crepe Wraps or Peking Duck Tacos; ‘Quck Snacks’, like the Mini Duck Burgers; or mains, including the Crispy Confit Duck Leg or the Pan-roasted Duck Breast. For guests looking to satiate their sweet tooth, there is also a range of traditional Chinese desserts on offer.
At the Pinot Bar, guests will find a carefully curated selection of old and new world wines, over 60 percent of which are from the pinot grape. Hong Kong brewer Moonzen has also come onboard, with four of its signature beers on tap –the Thunder God Ale, the South Cloud Lager, the Jade Emperor IPA and the Monkey King Amber Ale .
Drawing on this theme of old meets new, Hong Kong interior architect JJ. Acuna has created a space that is warm and nostalgic, but includes modern touches such as bespoke artwork and unique light fixtures.
