The Bar Awards are back, baby!
The biggest celebration of Asia’s bar scene is taking over Hong Kong from 16th – 22nd of May. For the first time ever the festival will also include Macau, with the region getting two award categories of its own – Bartender of the Year Macau and Bar of the Year Macau.
Hong Kong institution Lily & Bloom will hold the official opening party on Thursday 17th of May, which will play host to a line up of some of Asia’s best bars, including Singapore’s Nutmeg & Clove, 28 Hong Kong Street and Manhattan bar; Kuala Lumpur’s Omakase + Appreciate; and Bangkok’s The Bamboo Bar.
Thursday and Friday will see the city taken over by cocktail parties and bartender guest shifts, before Strokes in Causeway Bay hosts the inaugural Cocktail Carnival on Saturday 19th May.
Taste cocktails from bars such as 61 Monarchy, Kuala Lumpur and The Penthouse, Yangon, while trying your hand at Strokes’ famous crazy golf or giant board games. There will also be a free magic show and live music throughout the day. The best bit? Entry is free!
If you happen to be in Macau instead, head to Vida Rica at the Mandarin Oriental, Macau, for the region’s biggest cocktail event. Four of Asia’s premier cocktail bars – Oto and the Curator, Manila; Omakase + Appreciate, Kuala Lumpur; and The Bamboo Bar and #FindTheLockerRoom, Bangkok – will be serving up their best cocktail creations.
All the fun and games will conclude with the official The Bar Awards Party at Zuma, Hong Kong, on Sunday 20th of May, where the 12 best bars and bartenders from Hong Kong and Macau will be announced.
Stay tuned to the Drinks World website for the winners announcement!
