The Rum Diary Bar will play host to Rum Diary Spiced Rum’s inaugural competition final this weekend.
After narrowing down to 20 state finalists from over 100 entries, four national finalists representing Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia have been selected.
Congratulations to Julian Alphonse from Melbourne’s LoopRoof; Elise Godwin from Dominion League, Perth; The Bowery, Brisbane’s Josh O’Brien and Conor O’Brien of Earl’s Juke Joint, Sydney.
Each entrant was challenged to, “…create a new tiki classic with Rum Diary Spiced Rum based on their providence, history or somewhere/something special from their past.”
The four finalists will now head to Melbourne to compete in a weekend of challenges for the title of ‘Tiki, Land & Sea’ winner.
The challenges have been designed to test competitors’ knowledge of tiki history, rum, cocktail practices and current trends. There will also be a few surprise challenges issued on the day.
The overall champion will win the opportunity to make their own Rum Diary Spiced Experimental Kitchen release for 2018 alongside master blender and ambassador, Daniel Monk.
The winner will be chosen at the final round of competition to be held at The Rum Diary Bar on the 21st of January, launching the venue’s fifth birthday celebrations.
