Attention all sommeliers! The Court of Master Sommeliers Australia programme is now open for registrations.
Established in 1977, The Court of Master Sommeliers is the world’s most prestigious qualification programme for sommeliers.
In 2018, the intensive education and examination programme will offer Introductory, Certified and Advanced courses in Australia.
Each of the four stages of certification, which culminates in the Master Sommelier Diploma, require increasingly difficult levels of coursework and examination.
Since The Court of Master Sommeliers course began in Australia in 2008, 1000 students have taken part.
This has seen the graduation of 620 Introductory Sommeliers, 273 Certified Sommeliers and 31 Advanced Level Sommeliers, as well as five receiving the ultimate accolade of Master Sommelier.
Currently, Franck Moreau MS (Merivale), Sebastian Crowther MS (Rockpool Dining Group), Benjamin Hasko MS (Luxury Beverage Group), Adrian Filiuta (Merivale) and Jonathan Ross (The Lucas Group) comprise the Australian component of the just 249 Master Sommeliers recognised globally.
When asked about 2018’s course offerings, Ben Hasko MS said:
“This is the first time that The Court of Master Sommeliers will be offering Introductory, Certified and Advanced certification within the same twelve-month period in Australia. It’s fantastic to see the high demand for professional certification in Australia with over 1000 students having undertaken CMS certification over the past ten years.”
