Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Wine Cask Blend began as an experiment over ten years ago. Set in motion by Johnnie Walker Master Blender Jim Beveridge, the experiment involved maturing the Johnnie Walker whisky in casks that previously held wine.
It was in the former wine casks where blender Aimée Gibson discovered a palette of new flavours through trials of her own.
Aimée Gibson, who led the development of Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Wine Cask Blend, said: “With the Wine Cask Blend, we wanted to make a blend that can be enjoyed by all tastes, and especially by those people who might previously have thought that whisky isn’t for them.”
“We know how to make exceptional Scotch, we’ve been making it for years. However, by opening our doors to some of the world’s foremost experts in food and drink, I feel we’ve been able to unlock new flavour combinations in our latest whiskies that are culturally relevant and that will excite new and seasoned whisky lovers.”
“At Diageo, we are committed to breakthrough innovation and experiments that push the boundaries in flavour – just as Johnnie Walker Black Label did more than a century ago. Over time that experimental blend has gone on to become a true icon of Scotch all around the world,” added David White, Director & General Manager, Moet Hennessy Diageo.
The unique flavour profile of the Johnnie Walker Wine Cask Blend, is not only perfect straight up but is an excellent addition to cocktails including a Wine Cask Blend Sangria as well as a refreshing Wine Cask Blend Ginger Spritz.
“Cold Storage is thrilled to be carrying the Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Wine Cask Blend in Singapore. We see the Wine Cask Blend as the perfect way to bring new flavours and expressions to our customers, both novice and connoisseurs alike,” said Simon Cant, Director for Beer, Wine & Spirits, Dairy Farm Singapore.
