Two Australian bars and 12 bars from across Asia have been ranked in this year’s The World’s 50 Best Bars list.
Melbourne’s renowned Black Pearl ranked number 22 on the list, affording it the title of Best Bar in Australasia. The venue also took home the prestigious Legend of the List as recognition for its inclusion in the awards each year since its inception nine years ago.
Sydney whisky bar The Baxter Inn came in at number 45 on the list. The venue houses a library of over 630 rare and unique whiskey bottles and serves an Old Fashioned on tap.
This year saw Asia double its regional representation, with bars in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Shanghai and Taiwan making the list. For Taiwan, this was the first time one of the country’s bars has ranked within the world’s Top 50.
Taking out the number seven spot, Singapore hotel bar Manhattan at the Regent Hotel earned the title of Best Bar in Asia. The innovative in-hotel venue is the first of its kind to contain a barrel ageing room and its interior and cocktail menu is inspired by NYC’s Golden Age of drinking and glamorous hotel bars.
The awards were held in London and were attended by representatives from each of the awarded bars, industry experts, media and celebrities.
