Patrón Tequila has announced the six finalists who will be battling it out at the National Final for the Patrón Perfectionist competition for 2017. The top 18 entries from across the country recently competed at their respective regional heats to vie for a spot at the National Final. In just its second year in Australia, Patrón Perfectionists is a global competition, that searches through 18 countries tasting Patron cocktails created by thousands of bartenders, testing their skill and tequila knowledge.
The six bartenders who will be competing in the National Final are:
- Holly Ingram, Molly, ACT – Pollen and Funk
- Harry Saunders, The Lobo Plantation, NSW – Imperial Essence
- Joseph Chisholm, Seymour’s Cocktails and Oysters, QLD – The Humble Bee
- Giovanni Moschen, Caffé e Cucina, VIC – The Calabaza en Tacha
- Lloyd Smith, Clarences, WA – Earth + Smoke
- David Robinson, Hot Tamale, NT – The Last Frontier
The 2017 National Final will be held at Whitehart Container Bar, located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD on Saturday, 14th October. The six bartenders will showcase their skills and creations in front of an expert panel of judges that will decide the winning cocktail on appearance, originality, service and flavour.
The esteemed judging panel will consist of Chief Marketing Officer of Patrón Spirits International, Lee Applbaum, Global Mezcal Ambassador and tequila expert, (A.K.A. ‘Tequiliana Jones’) the one and only Phil Bayly, and Editor in Chief of GQ Australia, Nick Smith. The winner of the Australian Final will go on to compete in Mexico at the Global Semi-Finals on January 17, 2018, and contend for a coveted place in the Global Final on January 18, 2018.
