The aptly named Wings x Tins has opened in the inner city Sydney suburb of Darlinghurst and is the city’s first bar dedicated to buffalo wings and ice cold tinnies (cans for the Victorians). All we could think was, why on hasn’t this been done before? Here chicken wings are the order of the day and taken very seriously, with all sauces, except the classic Frank’s Original, made in-house. If you’re game, they also offer a chicken wing version of Russian Roulette, where one of the wings on your order is covered in T-bones Doom Juice sauce, but you’re not told which one.
Wings x Tins is the brainchild of two mates, Anthony ‘Macca’ MacFarlane and Alfredo Perez, who realised after a trip to the US that iconic chicken wing needed some love down under, and what better way to wash them down than with an ice cold beer!
The venue has taken over from the iconic ‘No Name’ restaurant behind Stanley street, and the themed booths décor makes all your retro teenage dreams come true from an 80s Swedish ski cabin to a booth inspired by ‘ya Mum’s house’. Each booth also houses a tin crusher for your eco-friendly and ‘green’ desires.
As the name suggests, the venue also houses a massive selected of craft beer cans, three rotating tap beers and a small selection of wine, Champagne and spirits, complemented by a tight classic cocktail list.
