The Dainton Family Brewery has been awarded Champion Australian Craft Beer for their Cherrywood Smoked Baltic Porter at the Independent Brewers Association Craft Beer Awards, held at the Adelaide Oval on July 27.
The Cherrybrook Smoked Baltic Porter took out the category of Champion Porter, before claiming the overall title. Located in Frankston, Victoria, the Dainton Family Brewery has only been in operation a few short years, and founder and head brewer, Dan Dainton was thrilled with the win.
Top honours also went to 4 Pines Brewing Co, who took out the Champion Brewery –Large title, Fixation Brewing Co for Champion Brewery-Medium, and Wheaty Brewing Corps was named Champion Brewery – Small.
Executive Director of the Independent Brewers Association, Chris McNamara said, “Winners represented a diverse range and wonderful cross-section of the craft industry, from the small to larger operations”.
Other breweries who took home accolades were Philter Brewing taking out Champion Pale Ale for their XPA; Eagle Bay Brewing Company’s Black IPA collected the Champion Amber Dark Ale award; Champion Wheat went to Feral Brewing Co’s Watermelon Warhead; Champion Specialty Beer was awarded to Rocks Brewing Co’s Conviction Pale Ale; Australian Beer Company’s Yenda Crisp Lager took out Champion Lager,; Champion IPA went to Pirate Life’s Mosaic IPA; and Champion French & Belgian Styles to Black Font Brewhouse’s Organic Saison de Ville.
