Aptly named after the Roman god of the seas, the Melbourne suburb of Windsor has welcomed it’s newest cocktail venue, wine bar and restaurant is making a splash with its Mediterranean-influenced menu of snacks, share plates and main dishes.
The first collaboration between restaurateurs Nic Coulter and Simon Blacher (Hanoi Hannah, Tokyo Tina and Saigon Sally) and brothers David and Michael Parker (San Telmo and Patuso), Neptune’s menu pairs vegetarian and seafood dishes, staples of the Mediterranean diet, with cocktails, liquors and an array of wines. The two-level space combines an outdoor atrium and bar area on the ground level with an upstairs cocktail saloon, offering an exclusive in-house whisky locker. Out back, guests will find a cosy lounge area complete with fireplace, perfect for those cold winter nights. Be sure to try their standout absinthe bonito tartare with Calabrian chilli oil or Market Fish baked in a bag with pippies. If seafood isn’t quite your thing, they also offer a range of tasty signature pastas. Can’t stop by for long? Take a little piece of Neptune with you by selecting a bottle of wine from their adjoining cellar to take home.
