Melbourne’s Stomping Ground Brewing Co are set to release a limited edition brew that will coincide with Midsumma Festival, Victoria’s premier queer arts and cultural festival which will run from January 15 to February 5.
The brew, fittingly entitled PRIDELweiss, is a Belgian style wheat beer with peaches. PRIDELweiss comes in at 4.5% ABV and will be available on tap during the three week festival at more than 50 bars and pubs around Melbourne who will be showing their support for the LBGTQIA+ community.
The sales of PRIDELweiss will also raise funds for Midsumma Futures, a year-long mentoring program for early-career artists and culture-makers from LGBTQIA+ communities. Stomping Ground will donate 50 cents from every pot sold to Midsumma Futures.
“Supporting emerging queer voices is at the heart of this partnership,” said Midsumma CEO, Karen Bryant. “Stomping Ground Brewing Co is a small local business enthusiastic about enabling entrepreneurialism and they understand the value of mentorship that programs like Midsumma Futures can provide.”
Stomping Ground co-founder Steve Jaffares was pleased to be able to help a great cause and be a part of the Midsumma Festival, saying, “It is important to us that we are meaningfully engaged in our community and we thought brewing PRIDELweiss was a great way for us to celebrate, and raise funds for, an exciting aspect of Melbourne’s culture”.
